Located ½ mile Northeast of Dawson, Sportsman Park has 40 acres of oak and hickory timber overlooking the North Raccoon River. You might enjoy fishing, hiking along the nature trails, picnicking or camping.

There are four enclosed shelters with combination padlocks that are available for rent May 1st through October 31st. Each Shelter requires a $100.00 damage deposit, which we will return to you if there are no damages. Reservations are required.

A handicap accessible playground and modern restrooms are located close by. Picnic tables are also available in the park if you don’t wish to rent a shelter.

Camping, shelters, restrooms and entry gate are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. May 1st to October 31st. No camping reservations accepted. Restrooms available during the season; no showers.

From November 1st through April 30th, the entry gate will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for day use activities only. Shelters will not be open. Camping will be allowed in the months of November and April, only as conditions allow. The modern restrooms will remain closed; however, we will have a portable unit available in November and April.

Turn north off Hwy. 141 onto County Road P46. Proceed ½ mile into Dawson and turn east (right) on E. Railroad Avenue. (E. Railroad becomes 130th St. as you leave town). The road will bend to the north and the park entrance is found at the point where the road turns back east.
