Shop with a Cop & Food Basket Program

This will be our 21st year for the Benevolent Food Basket and Shop with a Cop programs. We assist the less fortunate families within our county.

  • Our “Shop with a Cop” program takes approximately 50 children each year to the Wal-Mart in Dallas County.  The child will be teamed up with a Deputy or Police Officer who then helps them pick out Christmas presents for family members and themselves.  Each child is provided a specific amount of money to spend, usually $100.  At the end of the shopping experience the children have the gifts wrapped by volunteers and members of the Benevolent. The deadline for this program is December 1st or until full.
  • Our food basket program delivers boxes filled with meat, canned food, bread, milk, eggs, potatoes, gift certificates donated by local restaurants and businesses, sweets for the children, toys and various other foods and sundries.  The food is donated by Doug Bruce in Perry, IA and many other generous business owners in Dallas County.  The deadline for this program is December 20th or until full.

Each year the Sheriff’s Benevolent Association assists over 75 families in Dallas County who need a helping hand during the holiday season, especially the children. One hundred percent of our donations stay here in Dallas County.
