Vital Records

Birth, Death & Marriage

The county has marriage records dating back to 1851 (Must have applied in Dallas County).

Birth records from 1880-1921, then from June 1941 through current (Must have been born in Dallas County).

Death records from 1880 through current. If the person passed away in Dallas County, we usually have the record within a couple weeks; if the person passed away in another county, but a resident of Dallas, it may take up to 6 months for the state to send us the record. Per Iowa Department of Public Health the state office is not required by law to provide County Resident copies. This is done as a customer service as staff resources permit. In that case, if the person in question passed away in another County, it is best to go directly to the County of Death.

Fees for Vital Records are $20.00. Payable in check or cash. You may also use a credit card if you walk into the office.
