The Dallas County Veterans Affairs Commission may provide assistance to Veterans that qualify. The Veteran must meet the income, asset, residency guidelines and prove they have an emergency need that cannot be met by other means. They must also show that they will be able to pay their bills after assistance ends.
Assistance may be provided up to 3 months or until the maximum assistance amount is met. The Veteran must wait one year after termination of assistance to re-apply. Only two years of assistance in a five year period will be provided and each Veteran has a $5000 lifetime cap unless repayment is made on the assistance.
Maximum Assistance Amounts:
Single Veteran - $1500
Veteran with 1 Dependent - $1700
Veteran with 2 or more Dependents - $2000
Veterans must fill out the packet and provide all required documentation. Assistance will only be granted after the Veteran's appointment with the Veterans Affairs office and all documentation has been provided.
