P48 & F59 From Dexter To Redfield Closed For Replacement
Dallas County has contracted with Henningsen Construction from Atlantic, Iowa to replace 6.9 miles of pavement on P48 and F59 between Dexter and Redfield.
The project is scheduled to begin around the middle of May. During construction the road will be closed to all through traffic, but access will be maintained for residents. It is expected that the road will be closed until the middle of August. The designated detour route will be F60 to 360th St.
The project will begin with the removal and crushing of the existing pavement. Some material will then be removed beneath the old pavement and will be used to flatten the foreslopes. The crushed pavement will then be reused as a base material for the new pavement and any leftover crushed material will be used later for shouldering. After placement of the base material, paving will begin. The new pavement will be 8” of asphalt and will be constructed in 3 layers. Paving will be followed by shouldering, painting of centerline and edgelines, and seeding. The project route will be closed to all traffic, except local traffic, for the duration of the construction process to provide a safe environment for all involved.
