Located ½ mile Northeast of Dawson, Sportsman Park has 40 acres of oak and hickory timber overlooking the North Raccoon River. You can enjoy camping, fishing, playing on the handicap accessible playground, hiking along the nature trails, picnicking or getting on the nearby Raccoon River Valley Trail.
The new Sportsman's Lodge shelter house is available for rent year round. This facility seats 120 guests with the tables and chairs provided. The Lodge includes thermo pane windows with screens, ceiling fans, heat, air-conditioning and built in serving counters. It requires a $150.00 damage deposit, which will be returned if there are no damages. Reservations are required.
There are two all season cabins available for rent year round which require a $100.00 damage deposit.
A shower house and modern restroom are available at Sportsman Park from May through October.

Four of the ten sites are reservable. Reservations must be made at least 14 days in advance and there is a $5.00 reservation fee per site. A showerhouse with restrooms is located near the campground. Please come out and take a look at this beautiful, quiet location.

Turn north off Hwy. 141 onto County Road P46. Proceed ½ mile into Dawson and turn east (right) on E. Railroad Avenue. (E. Railroad becomes 130th St. as you leave town). The road will bend to the north and the park entrance is found at the point where the road turns back east.
