In 1973, the Dallas County Conservation Board purchased 24.57 acres of land from the George and Myrtle Trindle estate with the land to be used as a public park. A beautiful property, Trindle Park overlooks the city of Van Meter and provides a view for several miles.

During the months of May thru October  the entry gate will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Restroom facilities will be open. Reservations will be accepted for the shelters. 

During the months of November thru April, the entry gate will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. 

Restrooms will be closed. No reservations will be accepted for the shelter, but it will be available for use on a first-come-first serve basis.

HOW DO I GET THERE

Located in the southeast corner of Van Meter. Take exit 113 off I-80. Go south on County Road R16. Follow R16 south along the east edge of Van Meter (bear left at the “T” intersection) and watch for the junction with Richland Circle. Turn right on Richland Circle and the entrance to the park will be on the right.
